What is an Asbestos Survey?
An asbestos survey is an inspection carried out to identify the presence, type and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) within a property. The survey helps property owners manage risk and remain compliant with UK regulations
Do I legally need an asbestos survey?
Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, duty holders are legally required to manage asbestos in non-domestic properties. A survey is required before refurbishment or demolition works begin
What’s the difference between a Management Survey and a Refurbishment & Demolition Survey?
A Management Survey identifies asbestos during normal occupation of a building. A Refurbishment & Demolition Survey is required before any structural work and is more intrusive, as it inspects behind walls, ceilings and floors.
How long does an asbestos survey take?
Most residential surveys take between 1–3 hours depending on property size. Commercial sites may take longer. Lab results are typically returned within 24–48 hours
Will the survey damage my property?
A Management Survey is minimally intrusive. A Refurbishment & Demolition Survey is more invasive and may involve lifting flooring, accessing voids and opening up structures where necessary.
